Securus Technologies Is Arresting the Use of Contraband Cell Phones

Based in Dallas Texas Securus Technologies is a for profit Prisons Technology company. Securus specializes in satisfying the unique needs of law enforcement and correctional facilities. Across 45 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, and Mexico, more than 2500 correctional facilities housing a combined total of over 1,000,000 inmates have availed themselves of Securus’ expertise in the area of inmate communications.

Inmate communications are only one of the services that Securus provides. The company is also one of the biggest providers of government information management services and parolee tracking.

Securus Technologies payroll consists of 1,000 names. The company has been in operation for 31 years. In 2007 Securus took over Syscon Justice Systems. At the time of the acquisition, SJS was a recognized leader in the field of Offender Management Systems.

A collaboration between Securus and Harris Corporation led to the development of Cell Defender Technology in 2015. The following year the technology was green lighted for use in more than five different correctional facilities. Cell Defender is a Wireless Containment Solution that renders contraband cell phones useless by keeping them from connecting with a wireless network.

Between 2013 and 2016 Securus spent 6 million dollars plus on acquisitions technologies and patents.
