George Soros is also known all over the globe for his numerous philanthropic works and love to help people. Recently George Soros hit the headlines after donating a huge chunk of his net worth into the Open Society Foundation. Founded in 1993 by George Soros, Open Society Foundations is an organization that supports civil groups across the world by basically stretching out an helping hand to assist in advancing education, public health and justice.

George Soros was born in August 12, 1930, in Budapest, Hungary. When he was 17 years, he immigrated to England. In England he attended the London School of Economics. In 1951 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Philosophy. 3 years later he earned a masters Of Science in Philosophy. George Soros started off small by doing variety of jobs here and there before getting to the top. He was at one time a waiter and a railway porter. All of this changed when he felt doing odd jobs was not what he was cut for. George Soros then decided to write letters to different managing directors of merchant bank . That was how he landed a job in Singer and Friedlander.

George Soros’ career in business began in 1954 when he joined Singer and Friedlander and served as a clerk. 2 years later, he moved to New York to join F.M Mayer. Between 1959 and 1969 George Soros worked in different firms including Werthein & Company before forming the Double Eagle Fund in 1969. It was in 1970 that George Soros went on to fund the Soros Fund Management. All of these experiences shaped up his career to what he is today, a guru and prominent figure in the world of investing.

George Soros is not only a successful businessman but also a man who has actively been involved in shaping up and improving political and social concerns around the globe. Since 2004, George Soros has been a large donor of United States election. For instance in 2012, he announced that he will be making donations to the “Priorities USA Action” that was meant to support the re-election of Barack Obama. George Soros also supports causes outside the United States of America. He was at one time affiliated to numerous drug reform policies across the world.

George Soros’ philanthropy is something that is evident across the world. Since the 1970s George Soros has been doing numerous works of philanthropy in a bid to make a positive change in people’s lives. For instance, during the 70s, George Soros funded numerous black students in South Africa to attend the University of Cape Town during the apartheid regime. In 2017, George Soros donated $18 billion to the Open Source Foundations. This is all in a bid to help the foundation run efficiently and continue to help people across the world. The money will go a long way in helping Open Source Foundations grow and create a positive impact on the less fortunate.
