Tony Petrello’s Formidable Philanthropic Deeds

Tony Petrello is the President, the Chief Executive Officer, and Chairperson of the Board and Executive Committee of Nabors Industries. Tony has been the president of Nabors since 1991. The Hamilton-based company is the largest geothermal and natural gas drilling contractors in the whole world. He has been key in transforming the geothermal and natural gas drilling industry. It mainly operates in the United States, Africa, Middle East, and the Far East. Petrello attended Harvard University and Yale University. He has a Juris Doctor degree attained from Harvard University. Mr. Tony also has a Bachelor’s degree as well a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Yale University. Tony started his career in 1979 when he joined Baker & McKenzie, a law firm. He, later on, acted as a Managing Partner of Baker & McKenzie’s New York branch from 1986 to 1991.

In 1991, Tony Petrello started working at Nabors Industries where he acted as the Chief Operating Officer. He was later on elevated to the post of the President of the company in 1992. He was made the company’s Deputy Chairman in 2003 and held the position until 2012. In 2011 he was voted in as the Chief Executive Officer of Nabors Industries. He is also the director of Stewart & Stevenson, LLC at the moment.

Tony Petrello serves the community in different capacities; he is an active participant of the board of trustees at Texas Children’s Hospital. Mr. Petrello has also been active in supporting research and clinical programs that care for the needs of people with neurological disorders especially children. Furthermore, Petrello has also been involved in philanthropic activities and charitable works especially in Houston. He started charity works even before emerging to be one of the most respected people in the drilling industry.

More often, Mr. Tony donates money and other valuable resources to aid scientific researchers in medical advancements within the community. He was inspired to support research on neurological diseases to help his daughter, Carena, who was diagnosed with a neurological disorder. Having been brought up in a humble family, Mr. Tony is well aware of the sufferings people go through to have education. As a result, he established the Yale scholarship program to assist children from humble backgrounds in their education. Tony Petrello assisted Nabor’s employees during Hurricane Harvey. He gave the affected employees a paid time off to recover from the incident. In essence, he is not only an individual who contributes significantly to the gas drilling industry but also a person who is concerned about the welfare of the forgotten majority.
